Israel
Israel is absolutely beautiful. We arrived at 3am and hung out in the airport for a while before finding a hostel to leave our luggage for the day. After that we walked up over a hill, and there right in front of us was the beach. It was +25 that day so we hung out at the beach for a while and then walked to a museum, which was over 2km away. We were too tired to really enjoy the museum, but we will have some additional time in Tel Aviv before heading home.
Now we have been staying in Haifa for the last 3 nights and our days have been filled with Bahai activities as we are here on pilgrimage. Anyway, this cafe closes right now, so I have to go. We have not taken any pictures yet, public transportation and the general mood here feels safe.
Cheers

Alberta wrote this blog entry, not me. We took a big risk and rode a bus from Ben Gurion Airport to Tel Aviv, which is what Alberta was referring to when she said that the public transportation felt safe. Despite being one of the tourist capitals of the world, Israel does not have my approval as an enirely safe place to go. On the day we left a suicide bomber blew himself up in Natanya, which is between Haifa and Tel Aviv. So that load would have been on your mind anyway, even if I had been there with you.
As for Haifa being the superist place, well, I'd have to pretty much agree. In a way it's impossible to compare with anywhere else. In the other places we went we were tourists, but in Haifa we were pilgrims, and it was just a totally different feeling. I have to say, however, that I don't think I'd want to spend much time in Haifa during the summer. It got up to 30 degrees in Israel while we were there at the end of November! That's a bit warm for me.
Sorry, we didn't see your friend Tamila. We did see Romi, a Baha'i from Edmonton, and she left us a card with some great pictures on the day we left.
Corey.
